ABOUT US
Welcome to The White Horse Inn from Michelle & John
Serving locals and travellers since the 1500s, The White Horse is one of Britain’s oldest inns. With its thatched roof, oak beams, glowing log fires and famously warm welcome, it remains one of the country’s most beautiful places to eat, drink and stay.
Our character caught the eye of J.K. Rowling, who featured The White Horse in her Lethal White novel – and you can even spot us in the BBC adaptation.
Built in Elizabethan times, The White Horse at Woolstone has stood proudly in the Vale of White Horse for almost 500 years. You’ll find us in the heart of the village, surrounded by rolling countryside and historic trails, just 11 miles from Swindon, 5 miles from Faringdon and 7 miles from Wantage.
It’s said that Thomas Hughes, author of Tom Brown’s Schooldays, wrote some of his work here – a place that has long inspired visitors and writers alike.
